Nancy Parker taught plant taxonomy at SIUE during her last four years before retirement.
She served as plant taxonomist on a study of the flora of Lake Wappapello during a two year period. Since retiring she has volunteered one day a week in research at the Missouri Botanical Garden with George Yatskyvich on the "Flora of Missouri" project.
Her duties are various but include plant identification and verification of identifications done by others on herbarium specimens.
She admits to not knowing all the plants by sight but she can identify them if necessary.
