Robert Cohen will be presenting on his daily activities as a photojournalist in St Louis and commenting on the Photojournalism competition to follow.

 

Robert Cohen has been a community photojournalist for the the St. Louis Post-Dispatch for 20 years.

He began shooting pictures in high school with a Pentax K-1000, working for the student newspaper and stocking shelves at the local camera store.

Cohen's images of unrest following the police shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson were among those that captured the 2015 Pulitzer Prize in Breaking News Photography awarded to the photo staff.  He was also a finalist in 2010 in feature photography for a story about suburban homelessness in St. Charles County.

He has been named eight times as Regional Photographer of the Year by the National Press Photographer's Association and is a member of the Scripps-Howard Editorial Hall of Fame.

A graduate of the University of Texas in Austin, he began his career at the tiny Sun-Tattler newspaper in Hollywood, Florida, now home to a Holiday Inn.
