John Wm Nagel is a Professor of Fine Art Photography (retired) at St. Louis Community College at Meramec. During his tenure the program embraced the spectrum of photography from traditional and historical processes to the latest in Digital Arts Technologies. Trained in the tradition of the West Coast School at San Francisco State University, Nagel inaugurated the first curricula in the Zone System (1976), Color Photography (1978), and Adobe Photoshop (1990) in the St. Louis region. He is the recipient of the esteemed Emerson Award for Excellence in Teaching. He was instrumental in bringing the International Photography Hall of Fame and Museum to St. Louis from Oklahoma City in 2013 and served on the organization's Board of Directors and then as Executive Director. His work is in the collections of the St. Louis Art Museum,  San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, Oakland Museum, and the Norton Simon Museum.
